Yitran Technologies have demonstrated its DCSK powerline communication (PLC) chips and solutions aimed for the Indian market. Indian’s electric grid is a difficult media for most PLC technologies to function reliably enough and this is why the Indian utilities and DISCOMs are reluctant to use PLC for their smart electric meters and other applications.
Yitran PLC solution nevertheless, is specifically aimed at countries where the electric grid is problematic (like Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Argentina etc..) and during 2022 and 2023, Yitran showed that its DCSK PLC is working well in India as well.
During the ISUW 2023 event, Yitran demonstrated on a monitor screen, a real time reading from hundreds of smart meters at the Tripura State Electricity Corporation, a location where Smart Meters based on other PLC technologies failed to communicate.
Yitran is also successfully active in tests and pilots with Adani Electricity Mumbai showing a full functioning “consumer tagging/indexing” application in one of the most challenging areas for PLC in Mumbai.
Yitran is expecting to take part in the huge Smart Meters installation in India and it shared its knowledge about PLC technologies in general on March 2nd, during the conference at a session called “250 Million Meter Rollout session” where its CEO spoke on the session, sharing his 25 year of experience in Powerline Communication and why we think Yitran DCK PLC will work well in India.
